Tec 40 is the first full technical diver level in the PADI TecRec progression. Training develops the planning discipline, gas management and team procedures required for carefully controlled decompression dives.

Entry requirements
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or qualifying certification
- PADI Enriched Air Diver or qualifying certification
- PADI Deep Diver, or 10 logged dives to at least 30 metres
- 30 logged dives, minimum age 18 and medical approval
Course outcomes
- Plan and conduct limited decompression dives
- Use a decompression gas containing up to 50% oxygen
- Apply technical gas planning and reserve procedures
- Respond to foreseeable technical diving problems as a team
